Arcep says French mobile base reached 62.59m at end-Sep

According to data published by France’s national telecoms regulator Arcep, the country (including mainland France overseas departments and territories) was home to 62.59 million mobile customers at the end of the third quarter, up 4.9% year-on-year. As at 30 September the penetration rate for metropolitan France and overseas territories, rose to 97% from 96% in the second quarter, it added. Meanwhile, in mainland France Arcep reported that mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) are continuing to chip away at the market share enjoyed by the big three network operators. At the end of the third quarter MVNOs collectively controlled 6.34% of the total sector, compared to 6.32% at end-June.
