Cornet trumpets WiMAX in Tsaghkadzor

27 Oct 2010 reports that Cornet-AM, wholly owned by Russian telco Comstar United TeleSystems, has extended its footprint with the launch of a pilot service over a WiMAX wireless broadband network in the Armenian town of Tsaghkadzor. The reports says that the OmniMAX wireless solution provided by Greek-based Intracom Telecom was used in the project, with coverage extended across the entire municipality. Cornet-AM’s commercial WiMAX-based services are currently available in 19 major cities of Armenia, as well as villages within a 20km radius of cities with WiMAX coverage. Its broadband packages offer speeds up to a symmetric 3Mbps over its mobile-enabled 802.16e network, according to TeleGeography’s 4G Research Service, which provides comprehensive coverage of WiMAX and LTE developments worldwide.
