Tele2 posts healthy 3Q results

Swedish telecoms group Tele2 has posted net revenues of SEK9.99 billion (USD1.49 billion) for the third quarter, up from SEK9.83 a year earlier. EBITDA in the three months ended 30 September 2010 rose by 13% year-on-year to SEK2.75 billion and quarterly net profit advanced 11% to SEK2.48 billion. Highlights in Q3 2010 included Tele2 Russia adding 1.17 million net new mobile customers in the three-month period to reach a total of 17.68 million at the end of September, up from 13.30 million at end-3Q09, whilst Tele2 Sweden’s mobile broadband internet subscription base customer grew from 261,000 at end-September 2009 to 358,000 a year later; increased usage raised domestic mobile broadband monthly ARPU to SEK127 in 3Q10, up from SEK121 a year earlier. Group-wide, Tele2’s total mobile customers increased to 26.27 million at end-September 2010, up from 21.35 million year-on-year, as it added 1.40 million new users in the third quarter, whilst fixed broadband connections rose from 1.19 million in the year-ago period to 1.20 million, and fixed telephony subscribers fell from 3.16 million to 2.61 million over the span of twelve months.
