Malaysian WiMAX provider Packet One Networks (P1) expects to achieve coverage of 65% of the country by 2010, its chief executive officer has said. According to Bernama, P1 CEO Michael Lai also noted that the company has set aside around MYR1 billion (USD321 million) to achieve this target, while also confirming that the operator has invested around MYR650 million in its network rollout so far in order to achieve coverage of 40% of the population.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, P1, which launched commercial services in the Klang Valley in August 2008, had signed up 196,000 subscribers by the end of June 2010.
