Vodafone targets pre-paid market

The Independent newspaper reports that Vodafone UK is planning a multi-million pound marketing campaign and new tariffs aimed at the pre-paid market. The cellco’s new packages will be launched in November ahead of the run-up to Christmas, and come after Vodafone slipped to third place in the UK’s pre-paid market behind O2 UK and Everything Everywhere, the newly combined operations of T-Mobile UK and Orange UK. A company source told the newspaper that it is a ‘crucial time for the pre-paid market, as a third of all pre-paid handsets are sold in November and December’.
