Telecom Fiji begins disconnecting unregistered users

6 Oct 2010

Telecom Fiji says it has started disconnecting customers who did not register their landline and mobile phones under the country’s Telephone Services Decree, reports Fiji Village. The telco’s CEO Rohan Mail said that 90% of subscribers did register, but that termination of service began on 23 September for those who did not. Mail added that the move was necessary because each of the country’s telecoms operators faced being fined for each unregistered user that is not disconnected. Rival companies Vodafone Fiji, Digicel and Inkk Mobile are yet to release a statement on the issue.
