Russian cellular group Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) has announced the next phase of its integration programme with fixed line subsidiary Comstar UTS, confirming that Comstar’s services in all regions will begin being re-branded this month. MTS has indicated that all units currently operating under the Comstar brand will be gradually transferred to the MTS brand by the end of 2011. Unified call centres will reportedly be launched by Q1 2011. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database Comstar has over 100 local subsidiaries nationwide. In September 2010 MTS raised its stake in Comstar to 70.65%, following the acquisition of an additional 36,256,945 ordinary shares via a voluntary tender offer (VTO).
