Reuters is reporting that private equity group Mid Europa Partners has launched the sale of Poland’s fourth largest cable TV operator, Aster, by sending out teasers to potential buyers. The report did not place a possible price tag on the company. Rival cableco Multimedia is named as a possible purchaser, as is fixed line incumbent TP SA and wireless network operator Polkomtel. Aster boasts around 380,000 basic cable TV users, reported annual sales of PLN400 million (USD136 million) in 2009 and has PLN1.5 billion of debt. In June 2010 rival cableco Vectra was also named as a potential buyer of Aster.
