Sun rises to take number one post-paid operator spot

Filipino cellco Sun Cellular has announced that its post-paid subscriber base has reached one million, taking over the number one spot in the segment from rival Globe Telecom. ‘We achieved this never-before-attained milestone only seven years from start-up and with our rivals enjoying a ten-year head-start,’ Charles Lim, Sun Cellular business unit chief executive, said. Lim attributed the growth to the unlimited service and highly competitive rates offered by the company, and that because its network was deployed more recently than those of its rivals it meant the infrastructure was more advanced and better able to meet peak-load demand without experiencing congestion
