Paraguay’s National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) has granted mobile operator Nucleo (Telecom Personal Paraguay) PYG11.52 billion (USD2.34 million) in subsidies to aid the cellco’s deployment of a mobile network in the Chaco region, reports local newspaper ABC. The subsidies, which will come from the government’s Universal Service Fund, will enable Nucleo to deploy mobile networks in the departments of Alto Paraguay, Boqueron and Presidente Hayes. Nucleo has reportedly pledged to invest a further PYG4.5 billion of its own money in the project. According to the terms of the agreement, Nucleo must complete the project within a six-month time frame.
