15 Sep 2010

Movistar, Spain’s largest mobile network operator by subscribers and a subsidiary of telecoms giant Telefonica, has launched a commercial femtocell service for both residential and business customers, Europa Press reports. Offered under the ‘Mi Cobertura Movil’ banner, the service is available to those customers taking the company’s fixed line ADSL broadband service at speeds of at least 3Mbps, and will allow subscribers to boost 3G coverage in their home or office. The femtocell will provide indoor coverage over around 150 square metres, and will allow up to four mobile voice users to carry out conversations using the signal booster simultaneously. Mi Cobertura Movil will cost EUR9 (USD11.6) per month.
