14 Sep 2010

Indonesian mobile operator Telkomsel has picked Telecom Italia (TI) as the winner of an international tender for the implementation of its ‘Technology Plan 2011-2015’, Telecompaper reports without citing sources. Telkomsel, which boasts a mobile base of about 90 million customers, selected TI ahead of rival bids from France Telecom (with Sofrecom) and Deutsche Telekom (with DeTeCon), it claims. It is understood the five-year plan includes the development of the cellco’s entire network infrastructure (i.e. radio access, core network, transport network, etc), as well as service platforms, customer care and computer systems, and the impact on investments and costs over the period of the plan.
