Polkomtel tests LTE

Polish mobile operator Polkomtel has announced that it is testing Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology during the 20th Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdroj, being held this week. The 4G network is reported to be operating over frequencies in the 2600MHz band and allows download speeds of up to 100Mbps; the maximum upload speed is 40Mbps. Polkomtel promises that users will be able to watch videos without interruption and jamming, view TV on-demand, video conference and access VoIP or online gaming. Equipment for the test has been provided by Nokia Siemens Networks, with notebooks and USB modems provided by Samsung.
