8 Sep 2010

Azerbaijani cable TV operator B&B TV is currently testing broadband internet over its network, with a view to launching the service by the end of the year. According to a report by Azerbaijan Business Center, which cites B&B’s chief of sales and marketing Samir Mahmudov, the service will be provided in the capital Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and will be available in a dual-play package bundled with the company’s cable TV offering. At launch, initial download speeds of up to 5Mbps will be available, with plans to increase transmission speeds in the future. B&B TV was founded in 1996 as a joint venture between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies (MCIT) and US company EBI.
