MegaFon launches HSPA+ in Tatarstan

Russian cellco MegaFon has launched a commercial HSPA+ service in the cities of Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny. The network’s maximum download speeds have increased from 8Mbps to 16Mbps. Igor Azure, Regional Director of MegaFon claims that the ongoing modernisation of the 3G network will increase network capacity, and the introduction of HSPA+ technology will facilitate MegaFon’s transition from 3G to 4G.
