Israeli telecom equipment supplier Runcom Technologies Limited, and Indian footwear manufacturer the Liberty Group, have formed a joint venture (JV) to provide end-to-end solutions for mobile broadband using WiMAX, and later Long Term Evolution (LTE), technologies in the Indian market. The partnership will operate under the name Sunfest Runcom Technologies and are said to have already started negotiations with the successful participants in the Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum auctions held back in June.

‘The JV has set up a plant in Bawal in Haryana to manufacture base stations, indoor and outdoor customer premises equipment (CPE) and USB Tongs for BWA and mobile and fixed 4G networks.’ Adesh Gupta, CEO of Liberty group, told Press Trust of India. Vidhi Gupta, another executive at Liberty said: ‘We would be offering end-to-end solutions for WiMAX deployment and would focus on three main areas: manufacturing, EPC contracts and system integration and managed services.’
