According to a press release by Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), Movistar Chile has contracted the vendor to improve its network capacity and performance. NSN will implement HSPA+ upgrades to boost theoretical peak downlink speeds to 21Mbps and uplink speeds to 5.8Mbps. ‘The increased adoption of smart devices and the boom in mobile data traffic across Chile have put pressure on Movistar’s existing networks,’ said Angelo Guerra, head of the customer team for Movistar Chile at NSN. ‘With our HSPA+ technology, the operator will be able to enhance its overall network quality and performance. Apart from this, we are also showing the LTE path to Latin American operators and subscribers with our first HSPA+ network in the region.’ No financial details have been disclosed.
