Chunghwa Telecom 1H revenues increase 2.2%

Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan’s largest telco by subscribers has reported revenues of TWD99.28 billion (USD3.1 billion) for the six months ended 30 June 2010. This represents a 2.2% increase on TWD97.18 billion revenue for the same period one year earlier. Chunghwa has reported EBITDA of TWD47.07 billion for 1H10, a 0.7% decrease from TWD47.41 billion in 1H2009. Operating income increased to TWD29.79 billion, a rise of 2.6% from TWD29.05 year-on-year. Net income reached TWD25 billion, 12.26% up from TWD22.26 billion reported in1H09.

In operational terms, Chunghwa’s domestic fixed line business was responsible for revenues of TWD34.53 billion, down 2.0% from TWD35.23 billion one year earlier. Mobile revenues increased 4.2%, to TWD44.33 billion from TWD42.53 billion year-on-year. Broadband revenues increased 1.5% from TWD9.9 billion to TWD10.1 billion for the year ended 30 June 2010. As at the end of 1H10, Chunghwa Telecom reported 12.4 million fixed line subscribers, 4.3 million broadband customers and 9.4 million mobile subscribers, 5.1 million of which are registered to 3G services.
