ZTE signs USD254m deal to build mobile network for Telenor Hungary

Chinese telecoms equipment manufacturer ZTE has reportedly won a USD254 million supply contract to build a mobile network for Telenor Hungary, marking another success for the vendor in terms of its growing presence in Europe. With the deal expected to be formally announced today, the Chinese company will build a mobile network capable of supporting up to 4.5 million customers. The Financial Times quotes ZTE chief executive Shi Lirong as saying that ‘Virtually all European operators have shortlisted [the firm] … That has happened over the course of this year.’
