Freedom4 aims to Thrive following divestment

20 Aug 2010

UK Wi-Fi provider Freedom4 has been rebranded under the ‘Thrive Telecom’ banner, ISPreview reports. The operator, which had previously been a subsidiary of Daisy Group, has said that it will continue with its original focus on business and wholesale customers, offering its Wi-Fi services alongside mobile 3G connections provided under mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) agreements with three of the UK’s mobile operators: O2 UK, Vodafone UK and Hutchison 3G UK.

Telecoms group Daisy announced that it had divested the loss-making Wi-Fi business to the existing management team for a nominal sum in June 2010, claiming that the closure of the Freedom4 units would save the group around GBP1 million a year.
