Indonesia’s second largest operator by revenues, PT Indosat, has reported first-half net income of IDR287.1 billion (USD32.2 million), down a massive 71.5% from IDR1 trillion in the corresponding year earlier period. The sharp fall came despite a 5.8% rise in revenue to IDR9.66 trillion from IDR9.14 trillion previously. Indosat did not provide any explanation for the sharp decline in net income, saying it was still conducting a review of its operations. The telco is scheduled to publish full financial results on 24 August. On a positive note, Indosat said its subscriber base increased to 37.8 million from 28.1 million.
