Alcatel-Lucent bags China Telecom CDMA contract for 56 cities

In response to the increasing demand for 3G mobile services, China Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent to expand the capacity and coverage of its wireless network. Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Alca-Lu’s Chinese flagship company, has been contracted to upgrade the operator’s CDMA network across nine provinces, and a total of 56 cities. Alcatel-Lucent is a key provider of China Telecom’s CDMA network and has actively participated in its previous two expansion projects. The equipment vendor said the deployment will be completed by the end of this year.
