Yota to appeal over ‘seized’ WiMAX frequencies

3 Aug 2010

Russian WiMAX operator Scartel, operating under its Yota brand, has announced that it will push ahead with plans to build an LTE network in Russia, despite yesterday’s decision by telecommunications regulator Roskomnadzor to cancel some of its spectrum permits. Yota said the frequencies – 20MHz-30MHz of bandwidth in the 2.5GHz to 2.7GHz band – were acquired legally, and has promised to protect its interests in court.
