Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH) has reported its results for the six months ended June 2010. The operator of the ‘3’ brand said that its mobile customer base grew to a mid-year total of 3.1 million, up from 2.8 million twelve months earlier, driving six-month cellular turnover up by 7% year-on-year to HKD2.83 billion (USD365 million). Data accounted for a third of mobile sales as post-paid voice/data mobile ARPU climbed to HKD214 in January-June from HKD202 in the same period last year. Turnover generated by the group’s fixed line business was roughly flat at HKD1.6 billion. Last month HTHKH rebranded its consumer fixed line and broadband services as ‘3ree Broadband’ to take better advantage of synergies with its mobile services. Consolidated first-half net profit attributable to shareholders of HTHKH increased by 41% y-o-y to HKD361 million, due partly to reduced network write-downs.
