HOT inks fibre supply deal with Teleste

3 Aug 2010

Finland-based equipment vendor Teleste has announced that it will provide fibre-optic hardware to Israeli cableco HOT Telecommunication Systems. The two companies have inked a four-year framework agreement worth an estimated EUR16 million (USD20.99 million) under which Teleste will become HOT’s exclusive supplier of FTTx equipment. HOT is currently carrying out a large-scale FTTx upgrade programme, covering some two million households, with the Israeli operator aiming to upgrade its architecture from hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) towards very deep fibre, which it says will enable higher capacity and downlink speeds of up to 100Mbps, as well as improved video-on-demand (VoD), voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephony and HDTV services.
