Japanese cellular operator SoftBank Mobile has selected Ericsson of Sweden to provide it with a Service Aware Support Node (SASN) solution capable of delivering expanded services and facilities to its fast growing smartphone subscriber base. The vendor’s new platform will employ sophisticated traffic inspection functionality to deliver increased efficiency through the cellco’s network infrastructure, ensuring that all SoftBank Mobile’s subscribers can enjoy a consistent quality of service. SoftBank Mobile is also deploying Ericsson’s SmartEdge IP router for the first time, it said. The SmartEdge router expands the available bandwidth, accommodating more traffic and subscribers, and provides high speed mobile broadband services to meet customer demand.
