ER-Telecom to merge 14 subsidiaries

Russian operator ER-Telecom has announced plans to merge 14 regional subsidiaries into a single legal entity. The merger will involve establishing a corporate centre in Perm, alongside a smaller network of additional branch offices. 14 regional companies in Samara, Volgograd, Orenburg, Kirov, Yoshkar-Ola, Izhevsk, Omsk, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Penza, Novosibirsk, Nizhniy-Novgorod and Naberezhnye Chelny will all be merged, and new branch offices will be established in Lipetsk, Voronezh, Krasnoyarsk, Saratov and Barnaul. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, by the end of 2014 ER plans to control 20% of the national broadband and pay-TV markets; to achieve this the company is monitoring the markets of 90 cities with over 200,000 inhabitants with a view to expanding its networks in the near future.
