Ukrainian former monopoly telco Ukrtelecom has announced that its fixed broadband subscriber base has passed the one million mark. The number of customers of its ‘OGO’ branded ADSL service, launched in late 2005, rose by around 300,000 in the twelve months ended June 2010. The state-owned wireline and mobile network operator also posted a consolidated net profit for the second quarter of 2010 of UAH84.1 million (USD10.8 million). In a press release Ukrtelecom underlined other progress milestones in the broadband sector, saying that its international internet capacity had been raised from 1.7Gbps in 2005 to 120Gbps at present, whilst its national IP network capacity had risen from 2Gbps to 300Gbps in the same timeframe. Annual revenue from OGO in 2009 was UAH890 million.
