Dialog Axiata’s consolidated revenues up 15% in first half

Sri Lanka’s largest cellco by subscribers Dialog Axiata, formerly known as Dialog Telekom, has announced its financial results for the six months ended 30 June 2010, including subsidiaries Dialog Broadband Networks (DBN) and Dialog Television (DTV). The core mobile business posted a first-half net profit of LKR3.1 billion (USD27.4 million), reversing losses incurred last year, and although DTV and DBN continued to report net losses, both subsidiaries recorded positive EBITDA in the second quarter, signalling the consolidation of performance improvements in the fixed line, broadband and pay-TV operations. Dialog’s group revenues were LKR20.11 billion for the first six months of 2010, up by 15% year-on-year, and consolidated EBITDA rose 80% compared to a year before, reaching LKR7.15 billion, raising the EBITDA margin by 13 percentage points to 36%. The company’s mobile subscriber base stood at 6.6 million at end-June 2010, a 10% y-o-y increase.
