Ericsson inks backhaul deal with VHA

Swedish vendor Ericsson has bagged a contract to build a nationwide transmission network for Australian mobile network operator Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA). According to Delimiter the agreement between the two companies will see Ericsson construct thousands of upgraded microwave radio and fibre-optic links around the country. ‘The contract comprises the supply, rollout and integration of Ericsson optical and microwave transmission equipment … An important part of the contract is the provision of Ericsson’s services, including design, installation and integration, field support and project management. Ericsson also has responsibility for the integration of the new transmission elements with existing equipment including products from other vendors,’ the two companies noted in a statement regarding the deal.
