Optus progressing with LTE

SingTel’s Optus division has announced it has held tests of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology operating in 10MHz of 2100MHz spectrum in Sydney, with equipment from Nokia Siemens Networks. At the same time, Optus also announced that it has become the first mobile network operator to successfully acquire new regional spectrum licences in a combination of 10MHz and 5MHz of paired spectrum in the 2100MHz band at almost 1,000 sites across regional Australia, including Bendigo in Victoria; Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Townsville in Queensland; Tamworth, Wagga Wagga and Port Macquarie in New South Wales.
