Telkomsel awards Ericsson data traffic management contract

15 Jul 2010

Indonesian mobile operator Telkomsel has awarded Ericsson of Sweden an order for data traffic management services. The vendor says the new system will enable Telkomsel to prioritise customer data traffic so that higher-paying subscribers get access, high speed and quality even during network peak hours. Telkomsel has more than 86 million subscribers but like many other mobile operators of a similar size, has found it difficult to capture revenues from increased data traffic and is therefore looking at ways to get customers to pay for increased usage while at the same time optimising network capacity. No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
