8 Jul 2010

Argentine fixed line operator Telecom Argentina has said it expects capital expenditure of between ARS2.2 billion (USD559 million) and ARS2.4 billion in 2010, compared to ARS1.7 billion a year earlier and ARS1.6 billion in 2008. In the fixed line segment, the company will primarily focus on the development and expansion of its broadband services, and the phased rollout of its next generation network (NGN). The company will develop a new portfolio of data centre products and ICT infrastructure solutions to meet the needs of mobile operators and to continue with the updating of commercial and support systems. Meanwhile in the wireless arena, Telecom Argentina’s domestic mobile division Telecom Personal will invest in the expansion of mobile infrastructure, in particular 3G network coverage, and will increase bandwidth for mobile data transmission.
