Frontier completes acquisition

Frontier Communications has completed its USD8.6 billion acquisition of the wireline operations of Verizon Communications in 14 states. The sale, which was announced over a year ago, allowed Frontier to triple its footprint to 27 states to become the largest rural carrier in the country. The deal added 4.8 million lines in Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. It also included a few of Verizon’s exchanges in California, at the borders with Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.
