Unitel approves USD800m 2010/11 investment plan

Angolan mobile network operator Unitel has approved a USD800 million investment plan for the 2010/11 period, according to news agency Angop. The investment will come from the company’s own funds, with no external financing planned. Over the next 18 months the cellco intends to strengthen its services offerings with 3G data services including internet access, video calling and MMS. It also plans to expand capacity and coverage to cope with an expected rise in its subscriber base to 8.5 million from 6.1 million at end-March 2010, whilst focusing on reaching every district of Angola.
