Megacable acquires Omnicable

Mexican cable operator Megacable has agreed to purchase Grupo Omnicable in a transaction that will see the former add around 62,000 cable TV subscribers and 3,000 high speed internet customers, Business Week is reporting. Omnicable offers services in the Sonora and Baja California Norte states, and has a cable network that spans around 2,000km in the north of Mexico, covering around 221,000 households. No official financial details of the deal have been disclosed, although according to local financial sources it is believed that the acquisition will cost Megacable between USD56 million and USD62 million.
