Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) has not given up on the possible expansion of its MVNO business in Japan via a partnership agreement with its major shareholder, NTT DoCoMo. The Filipino firm which is 20.03% owned by Japan’s leading mobile operator by subscribers says it hopes the virtual resale business would be to the benefit of overseas nationals working there. PLDT president Napoleon Nazareno said that while his firm does not plan to drop the MVNO project, any possible expansion plan depended on DoCoMo. The pair had planned to launch in Japan this year but the service rollout was postponed due to regulatory issues.
