Lithuanian telecoms operator INIT has partnered with Polish solutions provider Vector to implement the DOCSIS 3.0 standard to increase the company’s competitiveness in the market. According to Vitautas Valutis, director of INIT’s IT department, the deployment of DOCSIS 3.0 – which the vendor claims is the first implementation of the technology in Lithuania – will enable the company to offer maximum broadband download speeds of 120Mbps. Vector supplied the Arris C4 cable modem controller, which has a high efficiency and reliability to increase subscribers’ satisfaction with the services offered by INIT. Commenting on the modem controller, Valutis said: ‘The solution allows for flexible development in the future. It is particularly important on the competitive market of electronic media which dictates continuous investment in the network development. The advantage of the device is also a broad package of configuration options and the possibility of quality control for offered services.’ INIT provides a number of telecoms services in Lithuania, including cable TV, internet access, analogue and digital TV, and voice-over-IP (VoIP).
