Personal launches LTE trial with Ericsson

4 Jun 2010

Fixed line incumbent Telecom Argentina has announced that its wireless arm Personal has launched a trial of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in the Puerto Madero area. In partnership with Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson, Personal is testing high definition video streaming, videocalling and high speed data transmission at download speeds of up to 50Mbps. As reported by CommsUpdate, NEC Corporation successfully carried out laboratory trials of LTE with the local unit of Spanish telecoms group Telefonica earlier this year. The trials took place between February and March 2010, with NEC providing Telefonica de Argentina (TdA) with a total LTE network system, comprising core network systems and wireless base stations.
