Palestinian Authority calls for more spectrum to be released

4 Jun 2010

Reuters reports that the Palestinian Authority has urged the United States to put pressure on Israel to release spectrum needed for the development of the Palestinian telecoms sector. ‘The easiest way to make this sector boom is to have access to 3G and WiMAX,’ said Mashour Abu Daqqa, the Palestinian telecoms minister. The Palestinian Authority has asked Israel for more spectrum that would allow cellcos Wataniya and Jawal to offer 3G, but Israel has so far refused.
