KDDI picks Motorola IPTV set-top box

Japan’s second largest telecoms group by revenues, KDDI Corp, has selected Motorola’s new VIP2060 high-definition IPTV set-top boxes for customers of its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services. The boxes will be made available to ‘au Hikari’ users from 2 June which is capable of supporting broadband connections of up to 1Gbps, it said. The Motorola VIP2060 includes a 500GB hard drive, supports DVR and time-shift functions and supports both terrestrial and satellite TV broadcast services.
