Kabel BW upgrades network with Motorola solutions

5 May 2010

Motorola has announced that German regional cable operator Kabel BW has chosen its new EuroDOCSIS 3.0 solutions to offer its customers across the federal state Baden-Wuerttemberg with high speed broadband and IP telephony services at download speeds of up to 100Mbps. The platform selected by Kabel BW is based on Motorola’s BSR 64000 Integrated CMTS (I-CMTS) and TX32 decoupled downstream module, which enables five times more downstream capacity while reducing the cost per port by up to 60%. ‘By upgrading our infrastructure to DOCSIS 3.0, we are able to provide our customers with even faster broadband internet, which can truly make personal rich media experiences a reality,’ commented Ludwig Modra, business unit manager of network operation and technology at Kabel BW, adding, ‘Our business benefits from Motorola’s operationally sensitive approach to deploying additional capacity into our network and our customers benefit from internet speeds of up to 100Mbps that Kabel BW is able to offer across its cable network.’ With Motorola’s solutions, Kabel BW can deliver additional advanced multimedia via higher-rate broadband service tiers while protecting existing DOCSIS deployments and investment. The vendor also provided integration and implementation services in support of Kabel BW’s network rollout.
