Brazil’s Global Village Telecom (GVT) plans to invest BRL1.1 billion (USD623 million) this year to support the launch of services in a number of new cities. BNamericas quotes GVT vice president of sales and marketing Alcides Troller Pinto as saying that the capital expenditure is higher than its original spend of BRL850 million, with GVT president Amos Genish adding that his company intends to expand telecoms services including fixed telephony and broadband to 14 or 15 new cities during the course of 2010. He declined however, to provide further details on the plan, noting only that the cities involved are in the southeast and northeast of the country.
