CCK failure to name 3G licence fee delays rollout

Mobile phone operators are demanding a quick decision from the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) on how much 3G licences will cost, as well as when frequencies for 4G trials will be allocated. The cellcos say the delay in licensing is hindering the rollout of faster internet connections across the country, adding that the government has long pledged to issue guidelines on the fees involved. Telkom Kenya chief executive Mickael Ghossein said his company has been asking the regulator to adjust the 3G licence fee to make it easier for them to run competitive business.
