China Mobile grows 1Q revenues by 7.7%

China Mobile has reported first quarter revenues of RMB109.1 billion (USD15.96 billion), up 7.7% on a year earlier. EBITDA increased 3.3% to RMB55.2 billion, while net profit rose 1.1% to RMB25.5 billion. The operator added 16.6 million new customers in the quarter to end March with 538.89 million users (of which 7.69 million are 3G customers). Average revenue per user (ARPU) fell to RMB70 per month in 1Q, from RMB80 a year earlier, while minutes of use increased to an average 508 per month, from 503 a year ago. Total voice traffic rose to 796.47 billion minutes from 785.04 billion while SMS traffic increased to 178.3 billion from 173.5 billion. China Mobile said it had 433.19 million users for its mobile music service at the end of March, and 508.44 million value-added business customers.
