Hungarian mobile operator Pannon plans to stop broadcasting its Mobil TV service on 18 May 2010, according to a report in the Nepszabadsag daily newspaper. Highlighting the service’s longstanding operating losses, Pannon officials say the company will instead focus on the expansion and development of its mobile broadband and LTE networks. The Telenor-backed company says that it also intends to launch a HUF3 billion (USD15.46 million) cost-cutting programme in the wake of an HUF11.3 billion drop in revenues last year to HUF177 billion. Pannon launched its Mobil TV service in 2005.
