Telefonica sues ETB for USD21.6 million

8 Apr 2010

According to a statement from Colombian financial regulator Superfinanciera, Telefonica is suing telco ETB for COP41.3 billion (USD21.6 million) plus interest. The Spanish giant claims that ETB owes money from June 2002 to September 2005 for access charges from incoming international calls. For its part ETB says that the lawsuit corresponds to an issue that was already decided in its favour in February 2009. BNamericas reports that Telefonica first began proceedings against ETB in 2006 for allegedly failing to honour a 1998 interconnection agreement.
