PLDT tests BPL

8 Apr 2010

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) is mulling plans to launch commercial broadband over power lines (BPL) in 2011, subject to the outcome of trials it intends to conduct later this year. PLDT president Napoleon Nazareno told reporters that his firm has completed a study on providing internet services over the power lines of its affiliate, the power utility Manila Electric Co, and was now testing the service. ‘We have studied them,’ he is quoted as saying, before adding ‘all has a good chance of working.’
