Indosat’s FY2009 net profit fell 20%

Indonesian telecommunications company PT Indosat today published its unaudited financial results for 2009, showing a 20.2% year-on-year drop in net income to IDR1.498 trillion (USD163.4 million), down from IDR1.88 trillion in 2008, on a drop in subscriber numbers. Indosat, which is controlled by Qatar Telecommunications Co (QTel), said overall revenue from its fixed, cellular and multimedia business units for 2009 was down by 1.42% y-o-y to IDR18.393 trillion, adversely affecting profitability, while operating costs rose 9% to trim operating profit by around 32% to IDR3.213 trillion.
