Nepal govt unveils more telecoms projects to improve access

23 Mar 2010

The government of Nepal plans to introduce three telecom pilot projects designed to allow greater infrastructure sharing among operators as it looks to improve telecoms access – particularly coverage in rural areas. Local newspaper The Kathmandu Post reports that the government’s plan has been released in response to operators’ calls for guidelines on infrastructure sharing in order to speed up the cost effective deployment of services. It is understood the projects will be implemented with the help of grant assistance provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) under Information and Communication Technology Development Project, to be completed by June 2014.
